Miss World America is the official preliminary to Miss World, the largest and longest running international pageant (c.1951).
Miss World America 2015 marks the first year of the pageant who sends on a representative to the Miss World pageant. Also, Miss World America for the first time ever had a former Miss America compete for the title. In fact, Teresa Scanlan is the first former Miss America to ever compete for another title after winning the Miss America crown.
Delegates are selected in each of the 50 U.S. states and two U.S. territories, serving in their titles for one calendar year and competing for the national title on July 3 in Washington, D.C.
Delegates are selected based on careful consideration of health, beauty, intelligence, communication skills, poise, grace and compassion. Centered on “Beauty with a Purpose,” Miss World representatives have raised over $400 billion internationally for children’s charities.
Since 2014, Miss World America is under the national directorship of Christopher W. Wilmer. Elizabeth Safrit, the most recent American delegate, earned 2nd Runner Up Miss World 2014 in London, competing with over 120 nations. The 65th Annual Miss World will be held in Sanya, China on December 19.
