0To enter the optional essay competition, contestants must write an original essay on one of the below topics and adhere to the word limits corresponding to the contestant’s age division. This includes all words (a, an, the, etc.). Contestants do not have to state the topic prompts verbatim within the essay, however, it must be clear to the judges that the prompt was understood. Judging criteria includes message/content, writing skills (grammar/punctuation/vocabulary/spelling and organization), creativity, authenticity, and personality. One entry per contestant. 500 word limit for Tween and Preteen age divisions, 1,000 word limit for Junior Teen and Teen age divisions. You must bring a PHYSICAL COPY of your essay to check-in. No digital submissions will be accepted. Limit one entry per contestant.
